Bisti De-Na-Zin Hiker
I HAVE VERY MUCH ENJOYED THE MESSAGES FROM PEOPLE WHO VISITED THE BADLANDS.  OTHER SITES NOW GIVE GOOD INFORMATION ABOUT FINDING THE FEATURES.  ALSO, THE FEE FOR THIS DOMAIN WILL BE DUE AT MONTH'S END.  ACCORDINLGY THIS SITE WILL BE TAKEN DOWN ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2022.

This site is for people interested in walking through the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness in Northwest New Mexico.  The Wilderness is a broad, flat badlands located about 35 miles south of Farmington, New Mexico.  It was once two separate wilderness areas, called Bisti and De-Na-Zin.  The western (Bisti) access point can be reached from Highway 371, between mile markers 70 and 71.  The eastern (De-Na-Zin) access point is on County Road 7500.

The Wilderness is maintained by the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM).  BLM  provides a little information about the wilderness on https://www.blm.gov/visit/bisti-de-na-zin-wilderness but does not indicate where points of interest lie. No maps are available at the access points to the Wilderness, and a BLM employee told me that his office won't hand out maps anymore.  I hope to provide information to make a first or second visit more enjoyable, and to suggest two rewarding hikes.
